Longmont Painters

I grew up here. Skyline High School, class of 2002, then CU Boulder. I started Ace of Diamonds Painting in 2009 by knocking doors in these neighborhoods, and our shop is still here on Iron Horse Drive. When we talk about painting Longmont homes, we are talking about the houses we drive past on the way to our kids' games.

That matters more than it sounds like it should, because Longmont is hard on paint in ways most homeowners do not find out until year four.

Why Longmont Weather Breaks Paint Jobs

At just under 5,000 feet, Longmont sits in one of the most punishing coating environments in the country. Three things are working against your siding at all times:

Altitude and UV. Thinner air at this elevation means significantly more ultraviolet exposure than a home at sea level, across roughly 300 sunny days a year. UV is what fades deep colors and chalks flat finishes. South and west elevations take the worst of it, which is why a house can look fine from the street and be failing on the other side.

Freeze and thaw swings. A February day here can run 20 degrees at sunrise and 60 by afternoon when a chinook comes down off the foothills. Every one of those swings makes wood siding and trim expand and contract. Caulk that was not rated for that movement splits, water gets into the joint, and the failure starts underneath the paint where nobody sees it.

Hail and wind. The Front Range hail corridor runs straight through Boulder County. Hail scars soft coatings and blasts the film off exposed corners, and the wind that follows drives moisture into every opening it can find.

Our answer is not a mystery product. It is Sherwin-Williams as our standard line, elastomeric caulk at the joints that actually move, correct spread rates instead of a thin coat that looks good on day one, and prep that takes as long as it takes. That is also why our warranty runs in tiers instead of a single number. Different substrates and exposures earn different coverage, and we will tell you which one your house qualifies for before you sign anything.

Neighborhoods We Paint

We work across all three Longmont ZIP codes, 80501, 80503, and 80504, including:

If your street is not on that list, we are probably still five minutes from it.

HOA Color Approval, Handled

Most Longmont subdivisions require architectural committee approval before a single brush touches the house, and most homeowners find that out after they have already fallen in love with a color. We prepare the submittal for you: color names, manufacturer codes, placement by element, and the elevation drawings or photos your committee wants to see. We have taken variance requests through review here and gotten them approved. If your board pushes back, we will help you answer them.

Interior Painting in Longmont

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and cabinets. We mask and protect like you still live there, because you do. You will get a written scope that names every surface and every finish before we start, so there is no argument later about whether closets were included.

Exterior Painting in Longmont

Full washdown, scrape and sand to sound substrate, spot prime, caulk what moves, replace what is rotten, then coat. We schedule around Colorado weather rather than pretending it will cooperate, and we will tell you honestly if we are too close to the temperature window to do it right.

What You Get Working With Us

FAQ's

How much does it cost to paint a house in Longmont? Exterior repaints in Longmont typically run based on square footage, siding type, story count, and how much prep the house needs after years of UV and freeze-thaw exposure. A 1990s two-story with sound hardboard siding prices very differently than an Old Town Victorian with failing wood trim. We give you a written scope with the price, so you can see what you are paying for.

Do I need HOA approval to paint my house in Longmont? In most Longmont subdivisions, yes. Fox Hill, Renaissance, Somerset Meadows, Prospect, and most newer developments east of Airport Road require architectural committee approval before exterior work. We prepare the color submittal package for you.

When is the best time of year to paint an exterior in Longmont? Late April through October is the reliable window. Most exterior products need surface temperatures above 50 degrees and falling overnight temps that stay there. Longmont's spring and fall swings mean the calendar date matters less than the actual forecast, and we schedule accordingly.

Do you handle lead paint in older Longmont homes? Yes. Homes built before 1978, which covers most of Old Town and both historic districts, fall under EPA RRP rules. We are Lead-Safe certified and follow containment and disposal protocol.

How long does exterior paint last in Colorado? Less than the can says, if the prep was skipped. Our altitude and UV exposure are harder on coatings than most of the country. Correctly prepped and coated, a Longmont exterior should hold 8 to 12 years, which is why our warranty tiers run where they do.
